Airlink
Airlink, based in Washington, DC, is the aviation industry’s disaster response organization. Since its founding by ISTAT in 2010, Airlink has worked with a growing network of airline partners to respond to rapid-onset disasters and other humanitarian crises, delivering 4,000+ relief workers and 3,000,000+ pounds of relief supplies to aid millions of people around the world. Airlink has led the industry’s response to historic events around the globe including the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the Ebola epidemic in West Africa in 2014, the 2015 Nepal earthquake, and 2017 hurricanes in the U.S. and the Caribbean.
Utilizing the power of aviation as a force for good, Airlink works with airline partners and industry supporters to deliver logistical expertise and transportation response in the wake of natural disaster and other humanitarian crises. This translates into rapidly and effectively using airlift to support 80 nonprofit organizations providing relief workers and supplies to aid people in communities affected by disaster in having clean water, getting medical attention, securing shelter, and more.
Veterans Airlift Command
Veterans Airlift Command (VAC) provides free private air transportation to combat-wounded veterans and their families for medical and other compassionate purposes through a national network of volunteer aircraft owners and pilots. Since its inception in 2006, the VAC has recruited over 2,700 aircraft owners and pilots across the country and coordinated flights for some 18,000 passengers over 11million miles with a staff of 4. Their volunteers report that serving these wounded heroes ranks at the top of their flying experiences. This is a mission where love for flying can be combined with individual involvement.
